Ajuani - Huayna Potosi - 6 days (Monica Gorman)
Monica say:
Fantastic guiding company! The best I have worked with in La Paz. I’m a female in her 50s from Los Angeles, and this was my third trip to La Paz. I trekked and climbed during the first two trips and had excellent experiences, but Eduardo topped them all. He is probably the most experienced and respected guide in Bolivia. I contacted him before I left LA and he was very responsive (always got back to me right away) and professional from the beginning. He suggested an intinerary, was patient when I issues with my payment, and, once I got to La Paz, met me the day before the trip to get equipment. His son, Juan, is also a guide, and speaks English, and was there too. They were careful to check that everything was perfect (and even offered me a jacket, which I ultimately used on Huayna). Trekking was perfect, Eduardo knows every nook and cranny of these mountains and after the first day he suggested a couple different options for the remaining ones. Lourdes, an insanely strong hiker with a keen instinctive sense of direction, and a great cook, accompanied us. Eduardo is kind and easy to be with. He told some great mountain stories in the evening, and he has a lot, as he has been guiding for many decades. (My Spanish is pretty limited, but I could generally follow the gist.) Everything ran completely smoothly. On the last day we summited Huayna. Eduardo’s son Juan was also guiding a client that day, and Juan’s girlfriend Delia, who is also a guide, guided Lourdes. (Lourdes and Delia made the summit in 3 hours, crazy.) Eduardo and I, and Juan and his client, also made it, albeit more slowly. It was a perfect day to summit. We all returned to La Paz happy. (And in my case also totally exhausted.) Yet another perk is that Eduardo has an excellent camera and took pics and videos the entire time. He then sent me over 100 great ones, by Whatsapp, after the trip. I can’t say enough good things about everyone — Eduardo, Lourdes, Juan, and Delia — and definitely recommend Bolivian Mountain Guides.
