The Apolobamba mountain range is a little traveled path despite its natural beauty that combines a high plateau, valleys and snowy mountains. It is a mystical region, where world-renowned native healers known as Kallawayas live. It is a magical place of perpetual snow mountains and few native inhabitants.
Itinerary:
Day 1.- LA PAZ – CHARAZANI – CURVA.
Early departure from La Paz in a vehicle. We crossed the high plateau along the edge of Lake Titicaca. In the port of Escoma we enter the Apolobamba mountain range. We can see small mountainous massifs before descending to the village of Charazani, already located in a valley. Later, we continue the trip to the native town of Curva.
Day 2.- CHARAZANI – JUTUMPAMPA.
We leave early to ascend between ravines and Andean plantations. You could see a spectacular view of the impressive Mount Akamani, a sacred mountain for the Kallawayas. On the sides, a succession of splendid snow-capped mountains. The road to Jatunpampa continues through a deep valley.
Day 3.- JUTUMPAMPA – INCACANCHA.
We start from Jatunpampa by a path that will take us to the foot of the glacier. After enjoying lunch, we are ready to go down to the ruins of Incacancha. We set up our camp near the waterfalls.
Day 4.- INCACANCHU – SUNCHULLI.
We leave the falls on the road that begins with a gentle but constant ascent. Next to the road a small ravine runs down to the valley of Sunchilli, where we will see the famous pre-Columbian mines. Camp in the upper part of the mining camp and near the Pico Cuchillo I.
Day 5.- SUNCHULLI – PALCA.
This day we crossed the Sunchulli pass and went down the Piedra Grande valley, Ilo Ilo, and ended up in Palca where we established our camp.
Day 6.- PALCA – PELECHUCO.
Last day of descent to the Pelechuco. Relaxed Day. There is more oxygen in the air due to the presence of a humid valley with wild flowers along the way. Here, the pre-Columbian road seems to remind the mind of a great alley that takes us to the town of Pelechuco. Accommodation.
Day 7.-PELUCHUCO – LA PAZ.
We leave Pelechuco – La Paz in a vehicle, crossing the regions of the high plateau of Ulla Ulla and Apolobamba.
